Zanzibar Tour Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival & Activities

Arrive in Zanzibar and head to your first accommodation, Kholle House, a historic boutique hotel in the heart of Stone Town. After checking in and refreshing, you set out on a guided tour of Stone Town. The winding streets reveal the rich history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, with stops at the House of Wonders, the Old Fort, and Freddie Mercury's House. For lunch, you enjoy a traditional Zanzibari meal at a local restaurant, sampling dishes like octopus curry or a flavorful biryani. After lunch, the tour continues through Forodhani Gardens and the bustling Darajani Market. As the day winds down, you return to Kholle House for a Zanzibari-style dinner and a restful night.

Day 2

Prison Island

Embark on a boat trip to Prison Island, where you explore the ruins of the old prison and interact with the giant Aldabra tortoises that inhabit the island. From there, you head to Nakupenda Beach, a pristine sandbank surrounded by crystal-clear waters, perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Lunch on the beach is a seafood barbecue feast featuring fresh fish, prawns, and other ocean delights. After a relaxing afternoon at the beach, you return to Stone Town for dinner at Kholle House.

Day 3

Safari Blue

We will take you on the famous Safari Blue excursion. You spend the day sailing in a traditional dhow boat, snorkeling among vibrant coral reefs, and exploring sandbanks and lagoons. The highlight of the day is a seafood barbecue on an island, with grilled fish, lobster, and tropical fruits. After a day of adventure, you return to Kholle House for dinner and a peaceful night.

Day 4

Jozani Forest

You leave Stone Town and venture into the wild side of Zanzibar with a visit to Jozani Forest. Here, you encounter the rare Red Colobus monkeys, native to the island, and walk through the lush forest and mangroves. Later in the day, you visit Starfish Beach, where you can marvel at the vibrant starfish dotting the shallow waters. Lunch is at Oxygen Restaurant, a popular spot on the east coast known for its seafood and local dishes. In the afternoon, you transfer to Kena Beach Resort in Matemwe, where you check in and settle into the serene beach environment. Dinner is served at the resort as you unwind by the ocean.

Day 5

Snorkeling around Mnemba Island

Today it is all about marine life. You head out for a snorkeling trip around Mnemba Island, known for its coral reefs and abundant sea life. You also get the chance to swim with dolphins in the wild, a thrilling and unforgettable experience. A seafood barbecue lunch is served on a nearby beach, and the afternoon is spent snorkeling, swimming, and relaxing in the sun. Back at Kena Beach Resort, dinner is served as you watch the waves roll in.

Day 6

Kena Beach

Your day of rest. After several days of adventure, you take the time to fully enjoy Kena Beach Resort’s amenities. Whether lounging by the pool or relaxing on the beach, this is a day of pure leisure. Lunch and dinner are served at the resort, offering a mix of light and flavorful meals. You spend a calm evening watching the sunset over the Indian Ocean.

Day 7

Nungwi Natural Aquarium

You will visit the Nungwi Natural Aquarium, where you can swim with rescued sea turtles and learn about conservation efforts on the island. After lunch at Kena Beach Resort or a local restaurant, you set sail on a sunset cruise. As the dhow glides along the coast, the sun sets in vivid hues over the horizon, making it a perfect end to the day. You return to Kena Beach Resort for dinner and another restful night.

Day 8

Matemwe Serenity

A blend of relaxation and shopping. You might spend the morning lounging by the beach or pool, enjoying the serenity of Matemwe. If you’re in the mood for more adventure, you can head back to Stone Town to browse the markets for spices, handcrafted items, and other local souvenirs. Lunch can be at the resort or in one of Stone Town’s many eateries. As the day ends, you return to Kena Beach Resort for dinner.

Day 9

Relaxation at Kena Beach Resort

Enjoy another restful day at Kena Beach Resort. This is a perfect time to soak in the beauty of the island and enjoy a slower pace. You might take a walk along the beach, swim in the ocean, or simply relax with a good book. Lunch and dinner are at the resort, where the menu offers a mix of Zanzibari and international dishes.

Day 10

Departure

After breakfast, you check out from Kena Beach Resort and transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your departure, carrying with you the memories of your island adventure.
