Embark on an unforgettable 8-day expedition along the scenic Lemosho Route, one of Kilimanjaro’s most beautiful and least-crowded trails. This route allows for better acclimatization, increasing your chances of reaching the majestic Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the roof of Africa.

Tour Plan

Day 1 Arrival-Moshi Town

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you’ll be warmly welcomed by an Wild Trackers representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Enjoy cozy rooms with hot showers, internet access, a swimming pool, and serene gardens. In the evening, attend a full briefing with your climb manager and mountain guides for a safety check, gear inspection, and final preparations.

Day 02 Londorossi Gate - Mti Mkubwa Camp

Depart the hotel for Londorossi Gate (2,250m). After permits and registration, begin your trek through the lush rainforest teeming with wildlife and birdlife. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m), where your crew will have your tent and hot meals ready.

Elevation: 2,250m to 2,650m

Hiking Time: 3–4 hours

𝘖𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭: Acclimatization hike towards Shira 1 Camp (+300m gain).

Day 03 Mti Mkubwa - Shira 1 Camp

Trek through transition zones into moorland, with stunning views of Kibo Peak and the Shira Plateau. The gradual ascent supports acclimatization. Arrive at Shira 1 Camp (3,610m), enjoy lunch, rest or explore nearby areas.

Elevation: 2,650m to 3,610m

Hiking Time: 5–6 hours

Day 4 Shira 1 - Shira 2 Camp (Via Cathedral Peak)

Enjoy an easy trek to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m), with expansive views over the Shira Plateau. If weather allows, ascend Cathedral Peak (3,872m) – an ideal acclimatization hike with incredible views of Mount Meru and the savannah below.

Elevation: 3,610m to 3,850m

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

Day 5 Shira 2 - Lava Tower - Barranco Camp

Trek to Lava Tower (4,600m) for lunch and acclimatization before descending to Barranco Camp (3,900m), located in a lush valley beneath the Great Barranco Wall. A physically demanding but crucial day for adapting to the altitude.

Elevation: 3,850m to 4,600m (up), down to 3,900m

Hiking Time: 6–8 hours

𝘖𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭: Relaxing meditation or journaling under the stars.

Day 6 Barranco - Karanga Camp

Conquer the iconic Barranco Wall a thrilling yet safe scramble and continue through glacial valleys to Karanga Camp. After lunch, enjoy rest or take part in an acclimatization hike toward Barafu.

Elevation: 3,900m to 4,035m

Hiking Time: 4–5 hours

𝘖𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭: Afternoon hike to 4,200m and return to camp.

Day 7 Karanga Barafu Camp

Ascend to Barafu Camp (4,673m), the final base before summit night. Rest, rehydrate, and prepare for the climb to Uhuru Peak. Dinner is served early to allow a few hours of sleep.

Elevation: 4,035m to 4,673m

Hiking Time: 3–4 hours

Optional: Breathing exercises and summit strategy session.

Day 8 Barafu - Uhuru Peak - Millennium Camp

Start the summit push at midnight. Reach Stella Point (5,756m) at sunrise, then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After a short celebration, descend to Barafu and continue to Millennium Camp.

Elevation: 4,673m to 5,895m, down to 3,950m

Hiking Time: 12–14 hours

𝘖𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭: Glacier walk if time and weather allow.

Day 9 Millennium - Mweka Gate - Hotel Return

Trek through verdant rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640m). Receive your summit certificate and celebrate your remarkable achievement with your mountain crew. Return to your hotel in Moshi for a hot shower and well-earned rest.

Elevation: 3,950m to 1,640m

Hiking Time: 6–7 hours

𝘖𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭: Plant a native tree at the gate in support of conservation.

Departure Day

Enjoy breakfast and relax at the hotel. Standard check-out is at 11:00 AM. Late check-out and airport transfers are available upon request, depending on your departure flight.
